Frequently Asked Questions
1. What exactly is microblading?
Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup that creates natural-looking brows using tiny, hair-like strokes. A special handheld tool places pigment just under the skin, giving you fuller, more defined eyebrows that still look soft and realistic.
2. How long does it last?
On average, microblading lasts anywhere from 12 to 24 months. Everyone’s skin is different - oily skin types may see the pigment fade a bit faster, while drier skin tends to hold onto it longer. A yearly touch-up helps keep your brows fresh and even.
3. Does it hurt?
Not really! I use a numbing cream before and during your appointment to keep you comfortable. Most clients describe it as a light scratching feeling - not painful, just a little odd at first.
4. How long does the whole process take?
Plan for around 2–3 hours. The first part is a detailed consultation and brow mapping - I measure and shape your brows to suit your face perfectly. The microblading part takes about an hour, and then you’re all set!
5. What's the healing process like?
Healing takes about 7–14 days. Your brows will look darker at first (don’t worry - this is normal!), then they’ll soften and lighten as they heal. You might see a little flaking or scabbing. The full colour settles in after about 4–8 weeks.
6. Will I need a touch-up?
Yes, your first touch-up occurs at 8 weeks after the initial session. This lets us fill in any areas that healed lighter and perfect your shape. After that, a yearly refresh keeps them looking their best.
7. How should I prepare for my appointment?
Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup that creates natural-looking brows using tiny, hair-like strokes. A special handheld tool places pigment just under the skin, giving you fuller, more defined eyebrows that still look soft and realistic.
8. What should I avoid after microblading?
For the first 7–10 days:
- Keep your brows dry (no swimming, saunas, or sweaty workouts).
- Avoid makeup directly on the brows.
- Don’t pick or scratch the area - let it heal naturally.
Following your aftercare instructions makes a massive difference in how your brows heal and how long they last.
9. Is microblading right for everyone?
A few simple things will help you get the best results:
- Diabetic (without your doctor’s approval)
- Prone to keloids or heavy scarring
- Currently using Accutane (you’ll need to wait at least a year)
- Receiving Chemotherapy.
- Really oily skin!
10. Will my brows look too dark?
Right after your appointment, yes - they’ll look a bit darker and bolder than expected. But don’t panic! As your skin heals, the colour lightens by 30–50% to a softer, more natural tone.
